PRESS RELEASE: KICKAPOO TRIBAL POLICE INVESTIGATE RESIDENTIAL FIRE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 03/30/2026
On 03/29/2026 at approximately 6:04am, officers with the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas Police Department, as well as responders from Kickapoo Fire and Rescue, Brown County Town and Country EMS, Powhatan Fire Department, Horton Fire Department, and Brown County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a residence located on 142nd Road on the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas Reservation for a reported structure fire.
After the fire was extinguished, an investigator with the Kansas Fire Marshal, the Topeka Fire Department, as well as the officers with Kickapoo Tribal Police and Horton Police Department, began investigating the source and cause of the fire.
An investigation into the incident remains ongoing - No further information will be provided at this time.
Donations for the affected families are being accepted by Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas Social Services.
Any and all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
