Memorandum: Winter Storm Emergency Reporting.
Dear Members of the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas Community
As many are aware we are expected to have a severe winter weather front move in starting Saturday January 4th through Monday January 6th. This winter storm is set to possibly be upgraded to a blizzard. Latest reports indicate snowfall up to 18" and ice accumulations up to 0.18". Needless to say, this will impact travel and power supplies. Windchill will be extremely hazardous to well below 0.
The Kickapoo Tribal Police Department will be in emergency accident reporting for the duration of the storm cycle. Emergency services will be strained and limited due to weather conditions. We will not be making reports for non-injury accidents and slide offs, or civil issues. If you have slid off and need to get off the road, we will pick you up and get you to safety, your car will stay in the ditch till it thaws.
In the event of loss of heat and or power in your home please safely make you way to a warming center located at:
Seniors Center in Site 8 866 112th Drive, Horton
Bingo Hall at the Golden Eagle Casino, 1121 Golden Eagle Road, Horton
As always in an emergency please dial 911 all non-emergency needs please call Brown County Emergency Communications at 785.742.7125.
Respectfully,
Alexander Batstone
