Safeguarding Our Schools: A Multi-Layered Approach to Security

At the Kickapoo Tribe Police Department, we understand that a safe learning environment is essential for students to thrive academically and emotionally. That's why we take a proactive and multi-faceted approach to school safety.

Building a Culture of Safety

School safety goes beyond physical security measures. It involves creating a culture where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to speak up about concerns. We do our best to work closely with our schools to foster this culture through advocating for open communication between the schools' staff and our own.

Enhancing Security Measures

We communicate with our schools to maintain a range of security measures, including:

  • Controlled Access: Limiting access points to school buildings and requiring visitors to check in and wear identification.

  • Security Technology: Utilizing security cameras, door alarms, and other technologies to monitor and protect school grounds.

  • Emergency Response Plans: Developing comprehensive emergency response plans for various scenarios, such as lockdowns, evacuations, and medical emergencies.

A Community Effort

School safety is a collective responsibility. We encourage parents, community members, and students to be vigilant and report any concerns to school officials or law enforcement. By working together, we can create a safe and nurturing learning environment for all.
