KICKAPOO TRIBE IN KANSAS – 08/29/2024 – TRIBAL POLICE RESPOND TO POTENTIAL ACTIVE SHOOTER


On 08/28/2024 at approximately 8:36am officers from the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas Police Department, Horton Police Department, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Kickapoo Nation School in Powhattan, Kansas in response to a report of a potential active shooter threat.

           

Upon arrival, the suspect was immediately apprehended and taken into custody without incident. The suspect was then transported to a holding facility where they will await a court hearing.


There is no threat to the school, its staff, or students. This incident is currently under investigation. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident and no further comment will be given at this time.
